Women Against Abuse operates the hotline in partnership with Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Lutheran Settlement House and Women in Transition.

The Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline receives more than 9,500 calls each year from domestic violence victims, concerned family members and friends, and community members.

Our most popular presentation, DV 101, provides an overview of domestic violence, with definitions and statistics, explanations of the different types of abuse, the power and control model, signs of abuse, reasons victims stay, effects on children, barriers to leaving, resources available, and characteristics of safe, healthy relationships.

To that end, NIJ has sponsored four research meetings, helped launch an interagency workgroup, and with the members of that workgroup, funded the development of concept maps related to teen dating violence.

Summaries and proceedings are available for each of the workshops: The creation of the Federal Interagency Workgroup on Teen Dating Violence was one outcome of the 2006 Workshop on Teen Dating Violence.

Preventing domestic violence today and in the future requires increased awareness about its nature, impacts, and prevalence in our communities.

The domestic violence unit within the Office of the State Courts Administrator in Florida has created innovative education and training solutions to ensure high-level performance by Florida’s judiciary.These solutions include online videos, benchbooks, and regional training programs.The Florida Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA), through its Office of Court Improvement (OCI), supports all judges who handle any aspect of civil domestic violence injunctions in receiving specialized domestic violence training, including the procedural and substantive matters pertaining to domestic violence injunctions, the dynamics of domestic violence, and the impact of domestic violence on children.This presentation examines the impact of an employee facing domestic violence at home through lost wages, increased insurance claims, workers compensation, liability, job performance, and more.It also offers sound advice on helping employees and protecting businesses.

Participating agencies have collaborated on several joint efforts, including cohosting the December 2007 workshop and sponsoring the Concept Mapping Project.
